Please visit Films & Schedules to see the lineup and to buy tickets.
Educators and their classes can take advantage of the Sprockets School Programme, which features five days of film screenings. Aimed at grades 1 to 12 the School Programme offers a diverse slate of films from Canada and around the world that take students and educators beyond the classroom and use the power of film to foster thought and encourage discussion about the complex and challenging issues facing young people today.
Whenever possible, screenings include an opportunity for students to engage in discussions with filmmakers and special guests to further explore the film’s ideas, themes, storytelling techniques and much more.
All films have grade recommendations to guide educators in selecting screenings for their students. As well, unique teacher resources have been created in consultation with education experts to find connections between the films screened at Sprockets and the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum – extending the Sprockets experience into the classroom.
With Sprockets, you can be sure that the time your students spend in the theatre will be more than just a day at the movies.
TIFF works with a Teacher Advisory Committee to ensure that the films, workshops and special guest speakers at Sprockets address contemporary social issues to provide a wealth of synergistic programming designed to enhance the Ontario educational curriculum. The committee acts as the voice of our teaching community, providing an educational perspective for the festival.
